The path back to myself

For years, I believed others knew what was best for me.Maybe you’ve felt that too—the subtle pull to follow advice that doesn’t quite fit. I remember hearing, ‘You’ve already succeeded here; just stay on this path,’ or ‘At this point in your life, you should be doing ____.’

And, for a long time, I listened. I thought maybe they were right, maybe they knew better. But every time I took their advice, I felt a little bit of myself slipping away.

When we let other people’s voices guide us, it starts showing up everywhere. We end up:

¬Accepting roles or routines that feel comfortable but drain us.

¬Holding back on our ideas because they don’t align with others’ expectations.

¬Saying ‘yes’ to things that feel ‘safe’ but don’t make us feel alive.

And the outcome? Life starts to feel heavy, like you’re wearing someone else’s skin. I found myself:

¬Feeling disconnected, wondering why everything felt out of sync.

¬Exhausted from trying to meet everyone else’s version of success.

¬Missing out on the joy and freedom that come from making choices that feel like mine.

My turning point came when I realized I couldn’t keep living by others’ opinions. I had to find the courage to listen to my own inner voice. And it wasn’t easy. It took time to reconnect with what I truly wanted.

But little by little, by making one small decision at a time, I began to reimagine my life, and with each step, it felt more authentic, more fulfilling, and more like me.

If any of this resonates with you, maybe it’s time to take that first, brave step toward trusting yourself. Start with one small choice that’s yours and yours alone. That’s all it takes to begin.

Trust me, once you do, life starts to feel lighter, more aligned, and yours in a way you may not have even thought possible. Just one true decision at a time.
