Let me explain >>>

Your exterior is a reflection of your inside.

If you are

• stressed,
• overwhelmed,
• constantly living with turmoil.

If you live with a knot in your stomach all the time this angst is
reflected in your skin, your appearance.

If however, you live your life in

• peace,
• harmony,
• with gratitude.

If you feel happy, if you feel content, well guess what? This is
reflected in your skin.

Your outside is a reflection of your inside.

So today, this week, I have no magic potion to offer you. I offer
you my best-kept secret on good skincare.

Take care of your inside.

Be mindful of your thoughts and your attitudes in your life. This is the best skin care product I can offer you. Do your best to live your own Simple Life.

A part of a  Simple Life, actually a big part, is surrounding yourself with the things [ and people ] that you love.

Things and people that bring you joy. Happiness.

And as today is Valentine’s Day what is more appropriate!

However…

Today I am going to speak about the “things” that are in your “space”. It is so important to examine what surrounds you in your life, your “stuff’.

Why?

Because your surroundings create a mood, a feeling and feelings control your actions, or inactions. Your
feelings, I have learned, set the tone of your life.

Here is the thing…

I have found that all too often we become accustomed and attached to our belongings. Sadly, we rarely take notice of what is “clogging up our space” both physically and mentally.

Here is an example.

“Years go by, decades sometimes and that vase that your dearly departed Aunt Lily gave you still adorns a shelf in your china cabinet. You never liked that vase, actually you were not too fond of your Aunt Lily… but… that item still takes up a space in your home. That darn ole vase creates a bad emotion, a bad feeling”.

So why keep it?

Now I am not suggesting throwing it away. Someone in your family, perhaps even a friend might enjoy it. You might give to them. If all else fails, there is always the charity shop!

But my point is that it is a good idea to be aware of your surroundings, what you put in your place on this planet. You see, surrounding yourself with things that you love is so vitally important to your well being. This concept is one of the ingredients in my recipe for a Simple Life.

Create good feelings and good things come your way. Live with something that does not bring you joy and you get “clogged” up. Stuck.

And who wants to be “stuck”?

BTW, in this video I dismiss the concept that living a Simple Life automatically means that one has to be frugal or cheap. This is far from the truth.

If I can give you one tip on living a Simple Life it is to really enjoy the small things, the moments that bring you joy and put a smile on you face and a chuckle in your heart.

Those moments do not have to cost you hundreds of dollars or take hours to enjoy. You don’t need to be in a crowd of people. You don’t need to travel to some far off destination. The finest of restaurants are not always necessary.

These are small minutes of time that surround you all the time, you simply have to be aware of them.

I am reminded about how long ago I started my Simple Life journey each time I pick up this book. In the inside cover I noted the year, 2000. Honestly I am sure I started before the turn of the century but the thing is I cannot remember that far back!

The book is titled ” The Simplicity Reader ” and is written by Elaine St. James. The author suggests how the reader can “Simplify Your Life, Create Inner Simplicity, and Live The Simple Life”.

And…

The inside teaser page explores…

“ 100 Ways to Slow Down and Enjoy the Things that Really Matter”.

When I read those few words I was hooked. Count me in!

This book has chapters on 

• Your Household
• Your Lifestyle
• Your Finances
• Your Job
• Your Health and Your Personal Life.

So much of the content can be applied to our lifestyle in the 21st century but in this, my first blog post, I want to give you a giggle. and after that giggle I ask you to take some time to pause and reflect. Please.

One way the authors advises the reader to slow down is to…

“Get Rid of Your Car Phone“

[ Do you remember car phones!!! Of course now the car phone of the past is no longer just a telephone. It is our own personal mini computer and sadly most of us cannot live without one. ]

This chapter talks about the safety factor of using a telephone while you drive. Agreed.

The author also mentions the frustration of the poor service. That complaint thankfully has been overcome. Heck you can even use a mobile device, as they are commonly known, in an elevator.

The third statement in this short chapter is the point of this first article:

“ There is a sheer lunacy of committing ourselves to yet again doing at least two things at the same time. Have we really gotten that busy”?
